Discipline and Behavior Management Philosophy
Praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of behavior management of children. When children receive positive, Non-violent, and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concepts, problem-solving abilities, and self-discipline. Based on this belief of how children learn and develop values, this facility will practice the following Discipline and Management Philosophy.
Counselors will:
Praise, reward and encourage children.
Model appropriate behavior for the children.
Listen to the children.
Provide alternatives for inappropriate behavior to the children.
Provide the children with natural and logical consequences of their behavior.
Treat the children as people, and respect their needs, desires, and feelings.
Use short supervised periods of time-out.
Time Out: is the removal of a child for a short period of time (the time will not exceed the age of the child) from a situation in which the child is misbehaving and has not responded to verbal warnings. The “Time-Out” space, is located away from the camp activity, but still within the counselor’s sight. During Time-Out, the child will have a chance to reflect on their behavior which led to the removal from the group activity. After the Time-Out period is complete, the child will have a chance to discuss the misbehavior with the counselor, come up with a resolution to the problem and rejoin the group. When the incident is over, and the child rejoins the group, the incident is over, and the child is treated with the same respect as the other children.
Stay consistent with our Behavior and Discipline Matrix.
RushHour understands that racing is an adrenaline filled sport; however, aggressive behavior of any nature, to include throwing equipment, verbal insults ect., will not be tolerated.
*Dismissal from camp will result in the forfeit of all funds paid for RushHour Summer Camp/ TrackOut Camp*
Counselors will NOT:
Spank, bite, pinch, push, pull, slap, or otherwise physically punish the children.
Make fun of, yell at, threaten, make sarcastic remarks about, use profanity, or otherwise verbally abuse the children.
Deny food or rest as punishment.
Leave the children alone, unattended, or without supervision.
Criticize, make fun of, or otherwise belittle children’s parents, families, or ethnic groups.
I, the undersigned parent or guardian of the children I enroll, do hereby state that I have read, received a copy of, and understand the facility’s Behavior Management Philosophy and Behavior Matrix. I understand that the dismissal of the children I enroll will result in the forfeit of funds paid for Summer Camp/TrackOut Camp at RushHour Karting, Inc.
